VITO- India working on increasing Indian traffic to Indonesia22 September 2009, 20:28:30 - (398 hits) India has emerged as an important source market for Indonesia. With a view to promote Indonesia beyond destinations like Jarkata and Bali, Visit Indonesia Tourism Office (VITO) -India in New Delhi was set up in September last year. Sanjay Sondhi, Country Manager, VITO - " India said, “Indonesia has 33 provinces and our target is to promote these provinces and provide more visibility to the Indian traveller to destinations that will hold greater interest for them - encompassing shopping, culture, spa treatments and beach destinations. We are already witnessing a lot more interest for destinations like Lombok and Yogyakarta amongst other destinations.”
“We continue to see a growing interest in Indonesia. In August this year we had the opportunity to host a delegation from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Indonesia and the Bali Government Tourism department along with a number of trade representatives from different segments on a four-city road show covering New Delhi, Mumbai , Hyderabad and Chennai,” added Sondhi. He added that the idea is to position the country as one where one can enjoy shopping, rejuvenate in world acclaimed spas and all this in a safe family friendly atmosphere in an archipelago of 17,500 islands to explore. VITO- India is planning to also organise a number of road shows, food festivals and FAM trips for increasing awareness about the destination.
